SWOSHA Minigrant :

The intention of this grant is to supply a SWOSHA member with some piece of equipment/materials/assessment tools/classroom materials specific to their therapy needs. This equipment should be that which typically can not be provided by usual funding sources such as department funds, PTA, building funds, etc….

Purpose:
The purpose of the grant is to:

  • Provide some resources to assist the SLP/Audiologist in their practice
  • Stimulate imaginative and creative thinking regarding the exploration or adaptation of new developments in the field of speech and language therapy/audiology.

Who Qualifies: Any current SWOSHA Regular, New to Area/New Graduate and Life Members.

What: Any piece of equipment, material, assessment, or tool to assist in the practice of audiology or speech and language pathology.

How Much: The maximum amount per grant will be $500. The maximum dispersement of grant money will be $1000/year.

Exclusions: The grant monies may not be used to supplement salaries; to remodel facilities, to pay college tuition; or to be applied toward inservice activities.

Timeline: The one page application must be submitted by March 15th. A committee of reviewers will read and score each grant using a rubric (see attached). The winners of the grants will be notified in writing by April 1st.

Final Reporting: After receiving funds receipts from the purchase of materials must be submitted by May 1st.  In addition a one page paper will be due regarding how the money was spent, and the effects it had on the SWOSHA members practice. This may be published in a SWOSHA newsletter or presented at the Spring Meeting.

Method of Selection: A panel of selected readers will review all applications and score on the attached rubric. Projects will be funded on the basis of criteria and quality of content. Projects that possess the following characteristics will be given preference:

  1. Strongly justify the need
  2. Can be duplicated by other SLP’s or Audiologists
  3. Uniqueness
  4. Typical funding resources (i.e. employers appropriations, PTA, etc.) have been exhausted.
